The citizens of Iran celebrate Esfandegan, a festival
in which they express their love for their mothers and wives.
Israel-In Israel, people here celebrate the Jewish
equivalent of Valentine day which is called Tu B'AV. During ancient time,
the girls wear white dresses and dance in the vineyards where boys wait for
them.
However, in modern times, the people here celebrate this day
by pronouncing their love by gifting cards and flowers.
Japan- In Japan, a custom prevails wherein the office ladies
gives chocolates to their co-workers on this day. The men are expected to give
the valuable return gifts to the women on 'reply day'. However, unlike western
countries, giving gifts like greeting cards, candles and flowers are uncommon
in Japanese culture.
Philippines- In Philippines, Valentine's day is celebrated
much like that in the western countries. The citizens of this country call this
day as 'Hearts day'.
